MEASUREMENT OF THE RATE-CONSTANT ON REACTION OF DISPERSED COLORLESS DIR COMPOUND WITH QDI IN A GELATIN LAYER

In the present paper, an indirect determination of the rate constant o f the dispersed colorless DIR with QDI in a gelatin layer is described . It is based on the competition reaction of the colorless DIR with a dye-forming coupler for QDI in the layer. The kinetics for the reactio n of QDI with the color-forming coupler in the competition reactions c an be followed spectroscopically in a continuous flow apparatus, and t hen a corresponding numerical simulation technique is used for fitting to the observed data further to obtain the specific and apparent rate constants for the colorless DIR compound.
