Dj. Wilson et al., ELECTROKINETIC REMEDIATION .2. AMPHOTERIC METALS AND ENHANCEMENT WITHA WEAK ACID, Separation science and technology, 30(16), 1995, pp. 3111-3128
A one-dimensional model is developed for the electrokinetic treatment
of aquifers contaminated with an ionic salt. Electrokinetic removal of
amphoteric metals such as zinc and lead is simulated. The use of a we
ak acid (acetic acid) to neutralize a portion of the OH- generated ele
ctrolytically in the cathode compartment is explored in connection wit
h the electrokinetic removal of nonamphoteric metals such as copper an
d cadmium.
