Abstract
In this paper an analytical relation is derived for the optimum diamet er of wire used for winding coils of given inductance and winding brea dth. The optimum diameter is the (frequency-dependent) diameter; for w hich the ohmic loss of the coil becomes a minimum. The analysis takes into account the inductive coupling of the turns, capacitive coupling, however; is not considered.
