Abstract
The title compound, C8H11NO3S2, is shown to be formed in the oxidation of ethyl 2-cyano-3,3-bis(methyl-thio)propenoate with 3-chloroperoxybe nzoic acid. The compound contains an (S-2)C=C(C-2) unit which is not e xactly planar, as indicated by atomic deviations of +/-0.130(1)Angstro m from the least-squares plane through these six atoms. The C-S bond l engths are unexceptional but the bond between the CH3(O)S-group and th e alkene C atom is slightly longer than expected [1.837 (3) Angstrom].
