We consider the problems connected with the design of a beam screen fo
r dipole magnets of the LHC proton collider - restrictions connected w
ith possible beam screen deformations and heating at quench, on the on
e hand, and beam dynamics and energy losses on the other. The beam scr
een design variants of coating with copper strips, and all-over copper
coating, were considered. A compromise variant is presented for choic
e of operating temperature and copper coating thickness.
