Tc. Yang, APPLYING H-INFINITY OPTIMIZATION METHOD TO POWER-SYSTEM STABILIZER DESIGN .2. MULTIMACHINE POWER-SYSTEMS, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, 19(1), 1997, pp. 37-43
The application of the H-infinity optimisation method to power system
stabiliser design is studied in this paper. The weighting function sel
ection and the application to multi-machine power systems are investig
ated in two separate parts. In this second part, it is shown that PSS
design for multi-machine power systems can be translated into a proble
m of a series of sequential stabiliser designs. Each of them is for a
very high order Single-input Single-Output (SISO) 'plant' and can be f
ormulated as an H-infinity mixed-sensitivity optimisation problem. The
method developed in the first part for the selection of weighting fun
ctions is also used in this second part. Applying these to a model of
a 10 machine 39 bus-bar power system shows a satisfactory performance.
