Correlative imaging of single tabular grains of silver bromide is perf
ormed, using a force-regulated near-field scanning optical microscope.
The topography and fluorescence images of samples of a sensitizing dy
e on a glass substrate and on silver bromide grains, showing a spatial
ly nonuniform fluorescence signal, are also presented. Near-field fluo
rescence spectra of the dye, taken at a corner of a single grain of si
lver bromide, are shown. The spectra are in good qualitative agreement
with the published data on film samples containing this dye.
