Abstract
Polycythemia is a relatively common finding in the full-term neonate a
nd is very common in infants who are products of maternal gestational
diabetes or who suffer intrauterine growth delay. On occasion, serious
complications may develop. This article reviews the causes, clinical
manifestations, long-term effects, and management of the neonatal poly
cythemia/hyperviscosity syndrome.
