Abstract
Maternal thrombocytopenia is common in normal pregnancies, but is a po
or predictor of fetal thrombocytopenia even when the maternal thromboc
ytopenia is of pathologic etiology. The real risk to the fetus and the
neonate is alloimmune thrombocytopenia, although identification of in
dex cases is problematic and management of future pregnancies has not
been defined.
