IMPROVED ACCESSIBILITY SYSTEM - COMMUNICATION ENVIRONMENT FOR THE VISUALLY HANDICAPPED

The word communication in the computer science field is associated wit h data communication. In the original context, communication is ''pers on-to-persons communication'' using some language or the human voice. Nowadays, handicapped people ale assisted in communication by informat ional equipment. The authors have developed several tools as welfare c ommunication tools for handicapped people and related volunteers. The main theme is a support system for the visually impaired and blind. No t only is research level equipment developed, but also commercial prod ucts. In this paper, several are described, along with some problems e ncountered in the development of welfare communication and accessibili ty to handicapped people.
