Sm. Kralovic et Jc. Rhodes, PHEOHYPHOMYCOSIS CAUSED BY DACTYLARIA (HUMAN DACTYLARIOSIS) - REPORT OF A CASE WITH REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, The Journal of infection, 31(2), 1995, pp. 107-113
Phaeohyphomycosis due to Dactylaria (Ochroconis) spp. is a rare infect
ion of man. It was first reported in 1986. All patients have had signi
ficant immunosuppression. To our knowledge, this is the second case of
phaeohyphomycosis caused by Dactylaria constricta var. gallopava in a
liver transplant patient and it developed even though he had been rec
eiving fungal prophylaxis with fluconazole. Moreover; this case may re
present nosocomial acquisition. In addition, we have reviewed the Engl
ish language literature pf previously reported patients with phaeohyph
omycosis caused by Dactylaria spp.
