Perturbation theory is used to study the absorption of Alfven oscillat
ions in a stellarator plasma. It is shown that, along with the region
of fundamental Alfven resonance, additional resonance regions (satelli
te Alfven resonances) can exist in a plasma. In these regions, small a
mplitudes of the satellite harmonics of both Alfven waves and fast mag
netosonic waves increase, and these waves convert into small-scale kin
etic waves. The distribution of rf fields and the rf power absorbed in
the close vicinity of satellite Alfven resonances are found.
