Nl. Aleksandrov et Am. Okhrimovskii, STABILITY OF A WEAKLY IONIZED ION-ION PLASMA IMMERSED IN A STRONG ELECTRIC-FIELD, Plasma physics reports, 23(1), 1997, pp. 71-74
The stability of a weakly ionized ion-ion plasma in a strong electric
field is studied theoretically. It is shown that, to a greater extent
than an electron-ion plasma, a plasma consisting of positive and negat
ive ions is subjected to a thermal-current instability and an instabil
ity associated with the finite-time relaxation of the drift velocity o
f the charged particles in an alternating electric field.
