Abstract
An efficient algorithm to optimise the reservoir utilisation levels of pumped storage units in probabilistic production costing methodology, used for generation expansion planning, is presented. The deconvoluti ons involved in off-loading the units for optimal reservoir utilisatio n of pumped storage units is avoided and a new technique is developed. The technique is also useful if hydroelectric plants are in the syste m. The method proposed is independent of ELDC representation.
