The title compound Me(2)Sn(N(t)Bu)(2)GaMe (Me = CH3, (t)Bu = C(CH3)(3)
) is formed in only low yield by the reaction of diazadistannetidine [
Me(2)SnN(t)Bu](2) with galliumtrimethyl. It is dimeric in the solid st
ate and crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with the ce
ll parameters a = 923.4(1), b = 1832.8(2), c = 972.9(1) pm, beta = 111
.24(1)degrees, and Z = 2. The centrosymmetric dimer (point symmetry C-
i) consists of three consecutive edge-sharing four-membered rings; the
central Ga2N2 unit is formed by two Ga <-- N donor-acceptor bonds of
203.7 pm. The two SnN2Ga rings and the central ring form angles of +/-
113.7 degrees. The compound is very similar to, but not isotypic with
the homologous In/Si compound[Me(2)Si(N(t)Bu)(2)InMe](2) [5].
