S. Rohrsetzer et al., INVESTIGATION OF THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE SURFACES OF PULP FIBERS BY ADSORPTION OF MOLECULAR, COLLOIDAL AND COARSE SIZE PARTICLES, Cellulose Chemistry and Technology, 29(1), 1995, pp. 65-75
Soft(pine) and hard(poplar) wood pulps were beaten in three different
beaters. It has been established that the total surface depends on the
type of pulps, but is independent on the beating degree. The total ex
tent of coarse and colloidal surfaces increased with beating but tile
extent of the increase and the ratio of the two surface types consider
ably depends on the type of pulps and on beaters. All these changes ha
ve been followed by the adsorbed amount of molecules and larger partic
les.
