Abstract
The escape probability for a vortex from a realistic twin boundary pin ning potential is calculated and compared to the corresponding Kim-And erson expression. The comparison indicates that for HTS parameters, th e escape probability depends on the pinning-potential shape, and subst antially deviates from the Kim-Anderson expression due to the neglect of diffusive motion in and in between the pinning potential wells.
