F. Szocs et al., INFLUENCE OF HIGH-PRESSURE ANNEALING ON FREE-VOLUME IN POLYCARBONATE STUDIED BY POSITRON-ANNIHILATION, European Polymer Journal, 31(10), 1995, pp. 1019-1020
The method of positron annihilation was used to study changes of free
volume in polycarbonate. Annealing at 180 degrees C and pressure 800 M
Pa causes significant changes of free volume (similar to 23%) compared
to nonannealed polycarbonate. The free volume compressibility was est
imated to be similar to 3.10(-5) MPa(-1). The distribution of free vol
ume has changed. This work discusses the influence of free volume on m
olecular dynamics and the transportation mechanism of free radical dec
ay.
