CARTOGRAPHIC APPROACH TO THE REPRESENTATION OF OPERATIVE-ECONOMIC INFORMATION IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION-SYSTEM

For cartographic representation of remoly sensed data on the snow cove r in the Volgograd Province with the help of a geographic information system, use is made of a method of recalculating the snow-covering val ues determined from regular meshes of the geographic net superposed on the scanner space photograph into the snow-covering values for the ad ministrative regions of the Volgograd Province. The method makes it po ssible to represent the degree of snow-covering of the territory in th e form of conventional maps and to improve the accuracy of its determi nation for irregular contours.
