Abstract
A new method for phospholipid film deposition has been developed. Anio nic phospholipids such as phosphatidyl serine (PS) and phosphatidyl ac id (PA) were deposited by an electrodeposition method onto one side of quartz-resonator platinum electrodes in an electrochemical cell, and the mass changes of these films were measured in situ by quartz, cryst al microbalance (QCM) technology. The QCMs with electrodeposition film s were applicable to odor sensing both in gas phase and in liquid phas e, whereas a conventional cast membrane was peeled off from the QCM su rface and could not be used in liquid phase. Furthermore, the response of QCM with the electrodeposition film was much higher than that of Q CM with a cast film in gas phase. The developed sensor has promising f eatures in spite of its simple fabrication process.
