Measurements have been made of Rn-222 release from diverse soils in th
e region surrounding Malaga, Spain. These flux measurements were carri
ed out by two methods. A direct method using a static chamber techniqu
e and another indirect method obtained from concentration profile meas
urements of Rn-222 in the soil air. The effects of meteorological vari
ables and other parameters Rn-222 flux were studied. The factors that
most affected the instantaneous value of Rn-222 release were humidity
and soil thermal gradient. The directly measured Rn-222 fluxes at inve
stigated sites are higher than Rn-222 fluxes derived by the indirect m
ethod.
