Abstract
Results are presented from the first RF heating campaign at Tromso in which the new CUTLASS HF radar, together with the EISCAT UHF radar and a low power HF diagnostic radio system were in simultaneous operation . Observations during an RF heating sequence, when ordinary and extrao rdinary heater polarisations were used alternately provided informatio n concerning heater small scale field aligned plasma irregularity exci tation, anomalous heating and anomalous absorption effects, simultaneo usly, for the first time. These results provide unambiguous observatio nal evidence for the important role played by plasma irregularities in anomalous transport processes, induced during RF heating.
