Abstract
Maximum bilateral bite force, determined in 129 dental students, was e valuated with regard to six skeletal and eight dental measurements acq uired from conventional lateral cephalometric radiographs. Statistical ly significant correlations for th ree of the skeletal measurements we re found. Maximum bite force increased with regard to decreasing mandi bular plane/palatal plane angle and to decreasing mandibular plane ang les. Maximum bite force increased with an increasing ratio of posterio r facial height to anterior facial height. Significant statistical cor relation for only one of the eight dental measurements was found: maxi mum bite force related directly with increasing maxillary and/or mandi bular dentoalveolar heights, an unexpected finding.
