Abstract
This paper presents the results of numerical investigations of the inv erse problem of optical sensing of the Earth-atmosphere system using c osmic multiangle measurement data on the radiance of a fixed surface a rea. The role of the viewing geometry is discussed. Estimates are deri ved for the errors in the determination of the atmospheric optical thi ckness and the surface albedo, which do not exceed 10% and 0.01, respe ctively, when the surface-reflected radiation is isotropic.
