Abstract
The performance of synthetic-aperture radars (SARs) aboard the Russian [''Almaz-1'' satellite and the European ERS- 1 satellite for imaging ocean surface waves is analyzed. The spatial spectra of the images thu s obtained are compared with the model spectra, computed by using a se a surface spectrum transformation model. Stationary response pulse fun ctions for both SARs are presented. The spatial spectra of the sea sur face elevations are determined and a comparison of these spectra with the WAM model spectra is carried out.
