Abstract
An alternative synthesis of Corey's endoperoxide intermediate (2) lead ing to forskolin (1) has been effected via a Diels-Alder approach. An interesting feature is the unusual dehydrogenation process 12-->13 whi ch accompanied the reduction of the mesylate group with zinc and sodiu m iodide.
