PROSPECTS OF THE MISSION TO PLANET EARTH PROJECT AND EARTH OBSERVING SYSTEM

Certain thoughts have been expressed on perspectives of the programm ' 'Mission to Planet Earth'' and ''Earth Observing System'' in connectio n with the lack of necessary conceptual substantiation of the program and the system which has been complicated by budget cuts. It is emphas ized therefore that there is an urgent need in further substantiation of global ecology priorities and relevant requirements to global obser ving system based on combined utilization of both satellite and conven tional means of observations.
