Abstract
We have demonstrated that the pulmonary venous and transmitral atrial duration, and the difference between the 2, are independent of age and not influenced by hypertension, but have a high interobserver variabi lity and range of variability. These technical limitations indicate th at caution must be exercised when utlizing these parameters for the as sessment of diastolic filling.
