Abstract
Resonant tunneling transmission is studied theoretically for symmetric al rectangular quadruple-barrier structures with deep triple wells. An alytical expressions for the transmission coefficient and the resonanc e condition are derived for the first time. Two desired resonance leve ls may be obtained almost independently by selecting appropriate value s of well width, which may be favorable for resonant tunneling device fabrication. The transmission coefficient versus electron energy is in vestigated, and it is shown analytically that the transmission spectru m is Lorentzian in shape near energies of resonance. Wave functions of an electron at the resonance level are examined, and the confining ph enomenon is studied.
