Abstract
An eye-safe compact Mie scattering lidar for atmospheric boundary laye r measurement was developed. The lidar employs a low-pulse-energy high -repetition-rate Q-switched Nd:YAG laser pumped by cw diode lasers. Th e vertical profiles of aerosols measured with the lidar were found to have sufficient signal-to-noise ratio for observing the structure of t he atmospheric boundary layer which plays an important role in air pol lution phenomena.
