This paper characterizes perforated plates or wire screens consisting
matrix heat exchangers (MHE) by porous media and treats them as hetero
geneous systems because of the fact that apparent heat conductivities
of matrices perpendicular to and parallel to the flow direction are di
fferent from each other. This paper presents two-phase and one-phase t
wo-dimensional models to describe stationary heat transfer processes i
n MHE. Based on the one-phase model, an analytical solution is develop
ed for the temperature distribution in MHE with parallel flow arrangem
ent.
