This paper presents some new thinking about the possible effects of th
e electrode geometry on the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) enhancement of t
wo phase heat transfer, especially boiling heat transfer. A hypothesis
on the dependence of the enhancement effect on the geometry of the EH
D electrode system in two phase heat transfer is made. For boiling, a
conceptual model regarding the effect of EHD force on the bubble movem
ent and hence enhancement effect is built. Furthermore, a semi-symmetr
ical electrode geometry is suggested to assess the hypothesis. The out
come of this study can hopefully form the basis of design of practical
EHD heat exchangers.
