This paper deals with the design of plate heat exchangers for processe
s in single-phase, evaporation and condensation. Some results are give
n for the thermal and hydraulic performance of corrugated channels in
single phase flow. The flow pattern is analysed to give some local inf
ormation on the heat transfer and the velocity held. In two phase flow
s, the heat transfer coefficient and the pressure drop are correlated
with models originally developed for smooth tubes. Some recommendation
s are proposed for future research.
