Abstract
Fouling is shown to have a significant effect on the performance of en hanced surfaces. Fouling is discussed as it occurs in single-phase flo w in condensers and similar systems, pool boiling (precipitation fouli ng and refrigerant/oil mixtures), and flow boiling (magnetite deposits and refrigerant/oil mixtures). It is concluded that fouled enhanced t ubes are still superior to fouled plain tubes.
