Specimens of Melanconium juglandinum were collected and examined by di
fferential interference contrast light microscopy and scanning electro
n microscopy to determine morphological features and conidiogenesis, w
hich is confirmed as annellidic. Conidia show a characteristic thick,
smooth and hyaline outer layer produced continuously with the inner la
yer of the conidiogenous cell. In vitro characteristics are also repor
ted.
