Abstract
Acoustic emission measurements mere made during controlled indentation of soda-lime glass. Pulses were detected at specific points during th e loading or unloading cycles. The response and reproducibility were d ependent upon the indenter shape. Comparison with earlier data reporte d in the literature showed that the acoustic activity was correlated w ith crack initiation events corresponding to median/radial, lateral, o r other fracture modes.
