My. He et al., MASS-SPECTROMETRIC STUDY ON 2 COMPOUNDS FROM SKIMMIA-CAUREOLA SSP MULTINERVIA, Rapid communications in mass spectrometry, 9(12), 1995, pp. 1122-1126
The mechanisms of the mass spectrometric fragmentation of two compound
s, I (evoxine) and a new compound II (O-methylcaureolol), were analyze
d using mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy spectrometry, and by verifyin
g the elemental composition and structure of some important fragment i
ons by high-resolution data. We discovered that the double bond in pos
ition 9,11 of the C ring of II may be diverted to position 7,8 of the
B ring and that a typical retro-Diels-Alder reaction follows.
