The elasticity equations for harmonic wave motion in thick cylindrical
shells with transversal isotropy are analysed. Under the assumption t
hat the wave motion is harmonic both along the length and around the c
ircumference of the cylinder, exact solutions for the displacement var
iation through the shell thickness have been found in the form of Frob
enius Power Series (FPS). The effectivness of the method has been prov
ed to be dependent upon the number of FPS terms employed. This is illu
strated on dispersion curves of axisymmetric stress waves (i.e. when t
he number of circumferential waves, n = 0).
