Va. Levin et al., FEATURES OF COMBUSTION PRODUCT FLOW STRUCTURE IN A SPHERICAL SEMIOPENCAVITY, Combustion, explosion, and shock waves, 31(1), 1995, pp. 30-36
Results are presented from an experimental study of features of escape
of high temperature combustion products of acetylene- and hydrogen-ai
r flames through a compact circular nozzle device with a semi-open cav
ity to the rear. The experiments were carried out within a shock tube
apparatus, Conditions far development of pressure pulsations were dete
rmined and their frequency was measured. The reactive force was measur
ed as a function of nozzle critical section and oxidizer/fuel ratio. T
he circular nozzle's specific impulse was determined from equilibrium
thermodynamic calculations of combustion product parameters for the fu
els used aad the measured reactive force values.
