Abstract
An experimental study was made of the propulsion of metal plates by th e sliding detonation of an explosive charge during the initial stage o f the process. It was found that the compressibility of the plate mate rial might have a substantial effect on the dynamics of the propulsion process. A formula obtained to estimate propulsion parameters account s for both the propulsive and the brisant properties of the explosive.
