Abstract
It has been hypothesized for a long time that the shape of a tabular c rystal depends upon whether there are an even or odd number of twin pl anes or on the location of twin planes relative to the tabular faces. Transmission electron microscopy on cryosections of a pair of high-asp ect-ratio silver halide tabular emulsions reveals that the suspected c orrelations do not exist. The explanation based on the recently propos ed cube-octahedral model needs further consideration now.
