Abstract
Rare Earth Element (REE) distribution in 10 samples of Precambrian BIF of granulite gneiss belts of Tamil Nadu suggest that the BIF derived their constitutents of iron and silica from hydrothermal source. The B IF thus formed were metamorphosed to granulite facies metamorphism alo ng with the associated volcanogenic products and sediments.
