A. Aydiner et al., ACUTE MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION IN MAN TREATED WITH EPIRUBICIN FOR NON-HODGKIN-LYMPHOMA, American journal of clinical oncology, 18(5), 1995, pp. 444-448
This article presents a young patient affected with non-Hodgkin lympho
ma who developed acute myocardial infarction 7 days after treatment wi
th epirubicin (90 mg/m(2), day 1), cyclophosphamide (600 mg/m(2), day
1), vincristine (2 mg, day 1), prednisolone (100 mg, days 1-5), and on
dansetron (3 X 4 mg/day, days 1-2). Six months after the myocardial in
farction the patient had no further cardiac complications after treatm
ent with the cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and ondansetron chemothera
py regimen. Epirubicin was considered to play an important role in the
production of infarction, and the probable mechanisms of epirubicin-i
nduced myocardial infarction are discussed.
