Abstract
Methods for the synthesis of alicyclic derivatives of spiropentane by [1+2] cycloaddition of halo- and dihalocarbenes to 1,5-cyclooctadiene followed by dehydrohalogenation and cyclopropanation of the olefins fo rmed are described.
