Abstract
This paper gives an account of the relationship between hypnosis, hypn otizability, dissociation and disordered eating. A detailed update of the outcome of studies employing hypnotic techniques in the treatment of the two dieting disorders anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa is p rovided. The role of dissociation and the contribution of hypnosis is evaluated.
