Abstract
The presence of dissociative symptoms was studied in 62 eating-disorde red patients at admission to a specialized unit, after 6 months and ag ain after one year. Scores on, the Dissociation Questionnaire (DIS-R) decreased in restricting anorectics and bulimia nervosa patients, but remained virtually unchanged for bingeing and purging anorectics. High er scores on the DIS-a (especially on its amnesia subscale) were found in patients who also reported traumatic experiences in their childhoo d. A negative body experience was shown to be a strong predictor of DI S-R scores at follow-up.
