Abstract
To assist towards the harmonisation within the EC countries, the Easte rn European countries and the USA, of the measurement of environmental dose rates from photon radiation an EC sponsored intercomparison of e nvironmental dose rate meters, electronic dosemeters and TL dosemeters was performed during 1994. The intercomparison was organised by the P hysikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig, Germany, and by the Riso National Laboratory, Roskilde, Denmark. This paper descri bes the intercomparison experiments performed at the newly established Riso Natural Environmental Radiation Measurement Stations during the period 12 to 18 June 1994. The chief aims of the experiments were to a llow the participants to check their home calibrations of their detect ors and to intercompare the dosemeter responses of the individual envi ronmental radiation measurement systems used in the USA, Eastern Europ e and the CEC countries and make a link between the different referenc e standards used.
