Using the H-1 NMR method, the spectral characteristics of the signal f
rom water at the interface of VO2 powders in the temperature range of
the metal-semiconductor phase transition (MSPT) have been studied. It
has been found that the signal intensity decreased at the phase transi
tion and its width increased. This was due to a higher absorptivity of
the material in the metallic state and to a rise in efficiency of nuc
lear magnetic relaxation due to conduction electrons. The result obtai
ned allows us to conclude that H-1 NMR spectroscopy on adsorbed molecu
les can be used to study the specificity of MSPT dynamics in hydrated
powders and suspensions of VO2.
