A theoretical study of the proximity effect between superposed superco
nducting and itinerant electron antiferromagnetic films is presented.
The model is based on the McMillan approach to a weakly coupled normal
metal/superconductor bilayer. The spectra of one-particle excitations
in the contacting films have been calculated and pronounced subgap fe
atures in the tunneling conductance of the bilayer are obtained. Impli
cations of the present results for the antiferromagnetic metal/convent
ional superconductor junctions are discussed as well.
