Omni-directional base stations are needed in many emerging wireless co
mmunication systems. This paper presents the first adaptation of a qua
si-optical oscillator array for this purpose. A 28 GHz active oscillat
or element containing a modified Vivaldi endfire antenna is utilized a
s the unit cell. Twelve of these are incorporated into the circular ar
ray, which is powered from a single de power supply. The array has a h
igh combining efficiency and remains frequency-locked over a span of 6
00 MHz.
